Product Details
The French company Peugeot may be most commonly associated with cars, but they actually made spice mills first, far back in 1874. In the 146 years since, no other salt and pepper mills have stayed as sharp, resisted corrosion as well, and lasted as long, which is why nobody in the culinary industry would hesitate to call them ‘iconic’. Made of beech wood and adorned with bright metal knobs, just like the original design, this duo of Bistro salt and pepper mills embodies casual elegance. Equipped with Peugeot’s foolproof mechanisms for salt and pepper, both of which come with a lifetime guarantee, you can control the coarseness of the salt and pepper in these mills by tightening the top for a finer grind and loosening it for a more varied texture. The grinding mechanism of the salt mill is made from medical-grade zirconia, which stays sharp over a lifetime of use. This patented mechanism grinds a wide variety of dry salts, including flaky salt, with utmost precision. You can easily tell the difference between the salt and pepper mills in this set by colour – the dark chocolate wood mill is for pepper, while the light natural wood mill is salt.
Note: These mills cannot be used interchangeably, as their inner mechanisms are different. The salt mill cannot be used with wet salt like fleur de sel or grey salt.
Why we love it
'Peugeot's patented Zirlion mills are the world's first corrosion-proof (and lifetime-lasting) salt mills. At the finest setting, you can use less salt with no effect on flavour. Zirlion mills excel at producing a finer, more consistent grind, and Peugeot's pepper mills are unparalleled.'

About The Brand
Peugeot
In 1810, brothers Jean Pierre and Jean Frédéric Peugeot converted their ancestral family mill into a steel mill. Rolled steel has been at the heart of Peugeot’s business ever since, and though the company is most often associated with cars, their iconic pepper mills came first.
Peugeot has officially been awarded the prestigious EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label in recognition of its excellence. This state-issued accolade rewards French firms for the excellence of their traditional and industrial expertise. Everything from design to technical development is handled in their French factory. With a commitment to sustainability, the wood used for their mills is sourced from PEFC-certified European forests. To protect the environment, post manufacturing wood waste, chips and sawdust, is collected and recycled. Solvent-free lacquers have been chosen for their colour finishes.
